Mystical England: Itinerary and Programme
August 27th to September 4th, 2012
Monday August 27th – From London Heathrow Airport, our private bus will take us to Avebury, a village which sits right in the middle of a unique megalithic landscape of giant stone circles and avenues. We will ritually enter the great gateway pillars which mark the threshold of the Path of the Dragon, then be free to wander among them and attune to their energies. Close by is the mysterious mound of Silbury Hill, associated with ancient harvest rituals, and the chambered tomb of West Kennet Long Barrow. Then westwards to Glastonbury to settle into our peaceful retreat centre beside a Celtic hill-fort
Tuesday August 28th - We begin our journey into the Mysteries of Glastonbury with a meditation walk through the gardens of the Chalice Well to experience the energies of the Deep Feminine. We will drink and cleanse ourselves in the healing pools in this place of Water and Earth. After a picnic lunch, we walk over to the cave-like source of the neighbouring White Spring, an entrance to the Underworld, and climb Glastonbury Tor, a place of Air and Fire, topped by the tower dedicated to the Archangel Michael, where you can see for miles all over the ‘Summerlands.’ This evening we will enter the inner landscape of Avalon through ritual and inner journeying.
Wednesday August 29th - Today we explore the legends and lore of the Holy Grail, and take a walk to the evocative ruins of Glastonbury Abbey to view the beautiful Lady Chapel and reputed grave of King Arthur and Queen Guenevere. After lunch in town and free time to explore the many eclectic shops and galleries, we return to the Chalice Well for a meditation on an extraordinary icon - the Blue Bowl: Glastonbury's own Grail, which is charged with spiritual powers. This evening we deepen into the Mysteries of the Glastonbury Grail through ritual and inner journeying.
Thursday August 30th - Our day begins with a visit to the hillfort of Cadbury Castle, the traditional site of King Arthur’s Camelot, which has magnificent views over the countryside. Then on to the beautiful 18th century stately home and gardens of Stourhead designed according to esoteric principles. Here we will take a walk through the extraordinary ritual landscape with its temples and grottos dedicated to classical gods and goddesses. In the early evening, we wend our way to Salisbury Plain for a private and exclusive visit to Stonehenge, where we gather for our sunset ceremony in this most famous and majestic of megalithic temples and threshold to the energies of Atlantis.
Friday August 31st- We leave Glastonbury to head southwest on the Path of the Dragon, and in the county of Devon we visit the extraordinary chapel of Brentor, perched on a rocky pinnacle on the edge of Dartmoor. Then on to the old Celtic kingdom of Cornwall and the romantic castle ruins of Tintagel, the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, dramatically located atop an island. At low tide, we’ll enter Merlin’s Cave, an extraordinary portal to the Otherworld and there will be an optional walk to St Materiana’s Church, once a place dedicated to the Mother Goddess. We spend the first of four nights at a beautiful cliff-top retreat centre overlooking the sea.
Saturday September 1st - This morning we take a walk in Rocky Valley to view the Bronze Age labyrinth carvings. Then we wander through the magical St. Nectan’s Glen, with its faery-haunted woods and waterfall, visiting a lovely Celtic saint’s chapel and holy well en route. After lunch in the little harbour village of Boscastle, and an optional visit to the Museum of Witchcraft, we gather at “The Otherworld,” for a special presentation by Cornish Mysteries expert, author Paul Broadhurst. Tonight we will explore the inner Mysteries of the Sea Temple.
Sunday September 2nd - We journey down to West Cornwall and cross the water to the rocky island of St. Michael’s Mount, one of the most dramatic and focal points of the Path of the Dragon. After exploring the castle and gardens, we make our way to the beautiful holy well and chapel of St. Madron, named after the Celtic mother goddess, followed by a healing rite at the holed stone of Men-an-Tol. We will also see the famous mermaid carving at Zennor!
Monday September 3rd - Today we travel to Bodmin Moor to meet Cheryl Straffon, author of ’The Earth Goddess’ and many other books on Cornish sacred sites. Cheryl will lead us to the three magnificent stone circles known as The Hurlers, from where we follow in the footsteps of the original circle builders along a processional way to the mysterious Bronze Age cairn of Rillaton Barrow. After lunch in the nearby village of Minions, we visit one of Cornwall's hidden gems: a beautiful hidden stone circle with eight gleaming white quartz upright stones, renowned for its healing qualities, to celebrate our journey together with circle dance and ceremony.
Tuesday September 4th - Leaving Cornwall, we travel eastwards, stopping on the way for a meditation at the lovely holy well of St Clether on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Then on to Heathrow Airport for our flights home.
