![]() Mara Freeman has been exploring the sacred landscape of the Celtic countries for over 30 years and loves to share her experience of the spirit of the land, its people, legends and lore, with small groups. Originally from Britain, she was steeped in its folkways from an early age. She is an Archdruidess of the Irish Druid Clan of Dana, Honored Bard with the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, and has worked as a priestess, ritualist, and seer for over 30 years. She has degrees in Literature, Education and Psychology. Dividing her time between California and Wales, Mara is an international lecturer, workshop leader and storyteller who has been teaching Celtic magical and mystical traditions for over fifteen years at many universities and learning centers, including Omega Institute, New York, Naropa University, Colorado, and the University of California. She is currently on faculty at Wisdom Universityy in Oakland, California. Mara is a published poet, songwriter and author of Kindling the Celtic Spirit: Ancient Traditions to Illumine your Life through the Seasons, (HarperSanFrancisco, 2001) An upcoming book on Mystical Britain is to follow. She is a regular writer on Celtic spirituality for PARABOLA, the award-winning American journal of myth and tradition. Mara has written and directed multi-media productions on sacred earth-based traditions which have been performed at conferences, schools and colleges in North America and Canada, and produced three albums of Celtic stories and meditations set to music. She also has a private healing practice in the Celtic tradition of Anamcara, or soul-guidance work, using her extensive training in the arts of psychotherapy, astrology and seership.
